By now older and older generations that grew up with the Atari and Nintendo Entertainment System were heavily into the Playstation two and Sony knew this. EverQuest, or EverCrack as some have come to call it, has been the largest staple in the MMO world for many, many moons now. After a plethora of expansion packs and a sequel on the way, it's quite obvious that EverQuest is becoming a full-fledged franchise. The Sony Playstation 2 also known as simply the PS2 was another crowd pleaser and big-time favorite in the gaming community. Since there's still a weekend to get past before the game comes out, we figured that there were plenty of questions that needed to be answered.FebruIf there were ever some sort of crazy word math where two words combined equaled a third, then 'computer' + 'addiction' = 'EverQuest' would be a true statement for many. With online co-op play for four players with voice chat, five classes, tons of art, and, well like I said, we can't wait. It looks fantastic, has a ton of gameplay, and plenty more features. It's a dungeon crawl, but what a dungeon crawl it is. Check it out.FebruIt's just a few more days until Champions of Norrath starts arriving in stores and around the ign.com offices we're pretty excited about it. IGNPS2's Ed Lewis has fought his way through hordes of orcs, trolls and other nasty what-have-yous, and now brings you this video review. Beyond just being a solid title in its own right, it's also moved to the online world albeit with some mixed results.FebruFaydwer. With new developments to keep pushing the genre along, it's clear that we have a new champion. The best of the bunch is not the sequel, Dark Alliance II, or the futuristic Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, but the next game by Snowblind, Champions of Norrath: Realms of Everquest. Some time has passed and now there are three games that have been based on the Snowblind engine that was developed for Dark Alliance. It's a testament to their coding prowess, but it doesn't really excuse the fact that Champions of Norrath either shipped too soon, or did so on hardware that wasn't ready to handle it.Wait, let me explain.FebruWhen Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance came out in 2001, it brought the popular RPG franchise into the action genre with beautiful graphics and plenty of action for one or two people to hack their way through. What's truly scary about the whole experience is that Snowblind has crafted a game that's still somehow engaging, even with all of these problems. If it doesn't, you're still treated to random drops in resolution and plenty of framerate chug. What better way to represent your channel than to speak your mind all at once? How does it work? Any game released in the past month is eligible for the award and is taken through a battery of tests by every editor on that particular channel. We're resolved to illustrate to our readers what we thought was the very best game for each system over the past month, and tell you the reason why. While some of us often chime in with our comments at the end of reviews, for the most part, the reviews on IGN are primarily written by one editor in this feature we get all of the editors on a particular channel to vote for our Game of the Month. Granted you could go by our review scores alone and weed through the long list of names to find something that scored high or low, but what if you had somewhere else to turn?Rather than wait until the end of the year like for our big award blowout, your incredibly masculine friends at IGN.com have decided to employ a monthly tribute to the weeks that were. During these rare blue moons we venture forth from our caverns by need or order and find ourselves perched on the futons and sofas of those we might call kin.FebruWith all the videogames that are released each and every month, it can be quite a difficult task to decide which title to spend your hard-earned money on.
